One socket across the Gulf
The countries of the Arabian Peninsula use the British-style Type G socket: three rectangular pins, a fuse in the plug and usually a switch on the socket. For the Mobile Connector, that means the UK 3-pin adapter fits a normal wall socket in Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain, just as it does in the UAE.
How fast it charges
Tesla lists the UK 3-pin adapter at 10A, 2.3 kW, about 15 km of range per hour. Overnight, ten hours adds roughly 150 km by that figure, which covers most daily driving.
Heat and sockets
Summer heat matters for a long charge. Use a socket in the shade or indoors where you can, make sure the plug is fully pushed in, and stop using any socket that gets warm. If the Mobile Connector shows red flashes while charging, it is reducing current because something is hot.
- Plug the adapter into the wall first, then the car.
- No extension leads or multi-plugs.
- A socket on its own circuit is better than a shared one.
Faster option for villas
If you have off-street parking, an electrician can install a dedicated blue CEE (IEC 60309) socket. Tesla lists 3.7 kW on a 16A blue socket and 7.4 kW on 32A, up to about three times the speed of a 3-pin socket.
